Anna Bona, MD
Anna Bona, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine with Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). Dr. Bona completed her residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn before completing her Simulation Medicine Fellowship at IUSM. Currently, she practices emergency medicine in Indianapolis, working clinically at the Veterans Hospital and Eskenazi Health, the public hospital.
Dr. Bona has dedicated her medical and academic career to medical education. She serves as an Assistant Clerkship Director, faculty for the department’s Division of Simulation, and is the Director of Emergency Medicine Simulation Education at Roudebush VA Medical Center. Her research interests include simulation education, gender equity, teamwork and communication, procedural training, artificial intelligence in education, and curriculum development. She has published over 20 peer reviewed publications and has been awarded 2 grants to pursue this work. She has presented work most notably at the International Medical Simulation in Healthcare conference. For her contributions, the American Medical Women’s Association Leadership Council bestowed the 2022 Inspire Award.
As an educator, she has achieved the medical student faculty honor roll for multiple years and been “identified by one or more residents as having a positive impact on their education and training.” In 2025, Dr. Bona was awarded an Indiana University School of Medicine Trustees' Teaching Award, demonstrating sustained teaching excellence for at least three years. She also was awarded the 2025 Department of Emergency Medicine Inclusive Excellence Faculty Award.
